RAMAC Swimming Club
in Toronto and North York
Swimming Lessons, Competitive Swimming, Summer Swim Camp.
RAMAC Swimming Club was found in November 1998 and began two times a week practices at Westview Secondary School on February 1, 1999. Originally we rented swimming pool with Parks and Recreation. The rental of the pool started with two times a week and expanded to six days a week growing from no swimmers to a hundred in 5 years.
Overall RAMAC development looked like a success and swimmers whose presence, at growing number of meets we attended, was more and more noticeable with medals and ribbons they have won. Some of our swimmers qualified for provincial and national championship and Mark Kourganov's swimmer Alex Kofman became two times National Age Group Champion in summer 2003. In the summer of 2010 Teddy Kalp, who began his swimming as a 7 years old at RAMAC swim club in North York, won national title in the open water swim in Winnipeg. Teddy swam 5000 meters in 1hour 1 minute and 22 seconds.
In summer 2003 RAMAC Swimming Club faced uncertainty as city of Toronto experienced budget problems and Park and Recreation was unable to rent out Westview S.S. pool anymore. At that time we came up with a proposal to Toronto District School Board real estate department asking them to lease former Bathurst Heights S.S. pool. Our proposal was accepted.
Today, our club is operating seven days a week serving approximate 150 swimmers. In 2004-2006 seasons RAMAC Swimmers brought Small Team Trophy award from Junior Provincial Championship and Small Team Cup from Top Cup.
Also, swimming lessons are offered now in our downtown swimming pool location on Bloor and Bayview. Swimming lessons in Toronto offered Monday to Friday from 6pm to 9pm. Downtown swimming pool lessons take place at Rosedale Heights SS in a newly renovated swimming pool. The swimming pool has six lanes and 4 feet depth which is suitable for swim lessons and competitive training.
Please visit our site more often as we continue working hard to update our history with success.
